Injection Molding
At Hunter Douglas we have forty-three injection molding machines ranging from sixteen tons to three hundred and eighty five tons.
Shot sizes range from 1.1 ounce to 23 ounces.
Vision detection systems are employed to protect molds from crashes.
Our Machines are equipped with RJG, which controls machines off of cavity pressure sensors. Molds are installed with cavity pressure sensors for the capability to transfer using mold cavity pressure for close tolerance control, process analysis and documentation, troubleshooting, and part quality monitoring. Coupled with robots, conveyors, and part diverters/separators, we have a system that ensures our zero defect policy.
Master Unit Die Program (M.U.D.) quick mold change system for JIT.
Molding in a wide variety of colors (over 350) is one of our core competencies. Our machines have mixing screws to properly mix these colors.
Superior capability to match plastic colors to metal and fabric.
For extreme color accuracy, we incorporate both the Hunter Lab and MacBeth color measurement systems.
We run very complicated products with very tight tolerances (.0005).
Each molded part has its own unique inspection criteria which includes dimensional, functional and mating part fit checks. Product is inspected at specified intervals by trained machine operators to insure product quality.
We also have an exceptional preventive maintenance program that utilizes a state of the art ultrasonic cleaning system to ensure that our molds are properly maintained to produce quality parts at their maximum expected life.
All injection molding supervisors and technicians have gone through many weeks of classroom training on scientific molding.
